America 250 Movie Night
April 9 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Please join us at the Gideon Welles School Auditorium in commemorating “America 250” with a free screening of a segment of the PBS Documentary The American Revolution (a film by Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein, and David Schmidt). The selected 50-minute segment ends with the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
GHS History Teacher Maureen Perkins will prepare us before the screening starts with a few valuable tips—what to look for and what to think about as you watch the film. All are welcome and encouraged to join, although the documentary (PG-13) is best suited for ages 13 and above. There will also be resources to help parents engage with younger children around the 250th anniversary. Snacks will be sold with proceeds supporting the Historical Society’s fifth-grade student field experiences.Watching this film together will help us to deepen our understanding of the Declaration of Independence and the values that unite us.If you are planning to attend, please email Diane Hoover at diane.hoover.hsg@gmail.com
