Connecticut: The Provision State

Connecticut rightfully earned the appellation “Provision State” because of its ability to supply the Continental Army. When General Washington wrote to Governor Jonathan Trumbull, which he did often, requesting much needed supplies, Connecticut always came through. But how was such a little state able to so quickly and consistently answer the call? What was unique about the Connecticut economy that allowed it to provision the American Revolution?
