If you read the book, Frozen River, by Ariel Lawhon and are interested in learning more about the life and times of midwife Martha Ballard, join us.  Additional information, based on the non-fiction book, A Midwife’s Tale – The Life of Martha Ballard, Based on Her Diary, 1785-1812 by Laurel Ulrich, will be shared.  Learn about colonial medicine at that period, the role of a midwife versus the role of a doctor, and the herbs that were used to treat illnesses.
